Demonic PossessionThe Catholic Church and the Discovery Channel are joining forces to sell a new cable television program on demonic possession entitled "The Exorcist Files". According to Entertainment Weekly the unprecedented new series about demons will recreate stories of supposed real-life hauntings and demonic possession, based on actual cases investigated by the Catholic Church. The project will reference actual Vatican case files, as well as interviews with top exorcists within the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church claims demons can inhabit individuals or places. In addition, the church holds that said demons can be ejected by a properly trained member of the church - an exorcist. The recreation of supposed hauntings and demonic possession may make good television, but the program should be clearly identified as religious fantasy. Television programs promoting such silly supernatural folly are dangerous to one's intellectual health, and may actually seduce the ignorant and gullible, convincing then such shenanigans have some place in reality.   (View Full Article)
